Gryffyn's Strange Brew (Brewer)
At the Livermore Classic July 19, 2009, Brewer took the top honors for a Silken Windhound in the ISWS Specialty winning Best in Breed, Best in Group and then Reserve Best in Show. His kennel mate Tara won Best in Breed Opposite Sex.
2008 was another great year for our boy Brewer winning both his NAKC/Rarities International Show Championship, but also topping it off with an ISWS Show Title making him one of the first dual ISWS Show and SRC racing champions.
At the Gold Miner Classic in Placerville, CA Brewer brought in some accumulated points and went on to get both his Rarities Championship and with a major win in the ISWS Specialty he won his ISWS Show Title. He was looking really handsome as he always does.
He arrived at Scirocco with Christmas of 2005 and has been going full force ever since. Of all our dogs, he's the one who's always happy, always polite, and always has a smile on his face. Nothing ever fazes Brewer, not other dogs, strangers or big scary critters. He meets them all with a gentle, wagging tail.
His favorite position is upside down in front of the fireplace or draped across the family room sofa. You hardly ever see this guy curled up in a ball- he just let's it all hang out with a devil-may-care good-natured grin. He's learned to love the California surf and thinks chasing birds down the shoreline is a magnificent treat.
Brewer has gorgeous color that intensifies every year. He's registered as a self-gold, but now that the color is more vibrant we can see he's really Irish marked. His eyes are striking, deep soul full pools you could drown in. He has a gorgeous head and lovely confirmation, courtesy of his prizewinning parents who reside in Texas at Gryffyn's Aerie. His dam, Josie, was the first silken Rarities Grand Champion, ISWS champion and IABCA champ as well. His father, Ivan, also has his Rarities and IABCA championships.
On the show circuit in 2006, he completed his IABCA UCICB title with a Best of Group win and two appearances in the Best in Show ring. At the December Rarities show, he took ribbons for Winner's Dog, Best of Winners, Best of Breed and Best of Group resulting in a 5 point major towards his Rarities Championship under well-known AKC Best in Show judge and author of K9 Structure and Anatomy Ed Gilbert !!
Brewer came to us without any racing history - but loved it his first time out despite not being sure quite it was ok to participate. In his second meet he was running with the big dogs- ISWRA champions Gideon and Shadow, and by the final meet of the year he was halfway to his SRC title. He went on to get his SRC Title.
And finally in 2006, Brewer had sired the first Scirocco litter, the "Sands of Time Litter"
